Questions before you travel
rTMS is non-invasive and generally well tolerated. The most common side effects are discomfort on the scalp and headache, which usually ease within the week. Seizures are rare; we check for risk factors in the pre-assessment. Our doctors go through the possible side effects with you before treatment starts.
You do not need a referral to send an inquiry. Please have recent medical records ready for the assessment, for example letters from your doctor and a list of your medication. Your psychiatrist or neurologist will tell you if anything else is needed.
Please do not stop or change any medication on your own. Tell us everything you take in your assessment. Your psychiatrist or neurologist reviews it with you and tells you what applies during your treatment week.
Everyone responds differently to rTMS. Your psychiatrist or neurologist will walk you through realistic expectations during your pre-assessment, based on your specific condition, and check in with you after treatment.
Consultations are in English, and our team can communicate with you in English throughout your treatment week.
